French Kingwood & Tulipwood Veneered Miniature Commode

A French Louis XV Style Kingwood & Tulipwood veneered miniature bombe shaped commode, having a moulded white-veined rust marble top over two parquetry veneered drawers, having the original brass ormolu mounts. Circa 1890.

This French Kingwood and Tulipwood veneered miniature commode is a beautiful example of 18th-century French craftsmanship, combining exquisite materials and intricate design. The commode, features a compact, elegant form, is veneered with kingwood and tulipwood, both prized for their rich colours and fine grain patterns. The contrast between the dark, dense kingwood and the lighter, more figured tulipwood enhances the piece’s visual appeal. Adorned with ormolu (gilded bronze) mounts, decorative escutcheons, and a marble top, this miniature commode showcases the luxurious aesthetics and craftsmanship associated with French Rococo or Louis XV furniture. It serves as a charming and valuable collectable.

Size:10″ high X 12.1/2″ wide X 7.3/8″ deep.
